I kinda like that they're not the "hot, cool and sexy" guys you see in so many bands. I think most people are getting sick of that image these days.
The Radio Dept. feels real and honest. I hope they never get to big.
I totally agree! TRD's not your stereotypical-poser-bands who doesn't know how to make music. What i like about them is that they're very unpretentious. But what i don't like about them is that they're too stiff on stage (haven't seen them yet live but i've been checking out their videos from gigs)and lots of hard to find rarities.
I get the feeling that TRD guys could have gotten famous a long time ago if that is what they wanted.

Re: something that you dont like about radio dept
Every band has relative strengths and weaknesses. But, I don't think there is anything I don't like about Radio Dept. I think they're capable of perfect pop. They can be more pristine, upbeat, sugary and Apollonian than any other artist I've heard. But, they're not often like that. And when they're not, I don't feel like it's a case of reality being more tattered and flawed than the ideal it pursues. I feel like it's a restrained choice to make the sound different, or to evoke and inspire emotions other than the bliss they seem so effortlessly able to dispense. So, if I ever feel like it's not poppy enough, and I haven't yet, I wouldn't be so quick to call it a limitation as opposed to a choice.

I like the radio dept. as is. i like their evolving music, their unpretentious attitude and mysteriousness. there are just so much pretentious music these days and it's lovely to have bands like trd who's sincere and not too much about the posing and the fashion, the chumminess. they just do the music they want and they keep it real. and how i love them

...that I'm addicted to the track 'David', but judging by the words and art, it may be homosexually-driven. Not that there's anything wrong with that - because there isn't and I'm totally for civil rights for homosexual members of society - , but...singing to myself seems kinda...awkward?
Maybe others feel me on this.

I believe many others have speculated on that.
